on going inward

I’ve been going d e e p  lately — really exploring the roots of my identity and asking myself:

what makes me…. me?

All this time in isolation paired with my recent psychonautic explorations is a perfect recipe for self-reflection, and I’m going with it.

Consciousness is a wild thing. How do you know what is real? What is driven by true self, versus what is driven by ego, insecurity, societal pressure? Can we ever even really know our true self? I’m obsessed with it lately; fixated on peeling back the layers of my ego, working my way towards my raw core… or at least, what I believe to be the core.

Below you’ll find a few of the questions I find myself returning to, almost using as a road map, when I sit down to write – to journey inward – and my mind draws a blank on where to begin. They’re listed in no particular and are entirely open to interpretation.

Enjoy your trip.

▷ what do you believe makes you, you?

▷ is who we are the same as who we believe ourselves to be?

▷ what does “longing” mean to you? what do you long for?

▷ what is one thing you feel you could not live without? tell the story of that attachment.

▷ what are the defining moments of your life?

▷ what defines a meaningful moment?

▷ where do you find meaning in your life?

▷ do you agree with the sentiment that the people we surround ourselves with serve as a mirror? consider your closest relationships: what do you see reflected back?

▷ do your friendships bring you closer to or further away from awareness?

▷ how do you differentiate between what is driven by true self, versus what is driven by ego, insecurity and societal pressure?

▷ who are your expanders? which characteristics do they possess? which do they share?
